Hi, I am Marianne Songbird.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet world. In the real world you can find me in beautiful Germany’s Mosel region. I love anything DIY, craft or decorating and would describe my personal style as Coastal Bohemian Farmhouse.
I have founded Songbird because ‘nesting’ is one of my biggest hobbies. Fiddling and foofing our home is one of my passions in life and the most important reason I started to blog.
I am originally from the Netherlands where I have redecorated two homes so far. You’ll find images of those homes all over this site.
My husband Lex and I moved to Germany recently and are currently are renovating a 250 year old farmhouse that has been severely neglected and needs a lot of TLC. One day it is going to be beautiful again!
We are sharing the renovation project on our Youtube Channel Lex and Marianne. We’d love it if we could meet you there too.
Songbird is essentially me sharing my quest to be creative, both in my home decorations as in various crafts. And as I share my adventures, I hope to inspire and to give other women the courage to pick up a power tool, do a craft or redecorate a room without fear of failure.
You can find many different projects, big and small, here on this blog. My endeavors range from giving whole rooms makeovers like my craft room or my bedroom, furniture rehabs, and all kinds of crafty creations that could involve things like plaster, doilies, feathers, sewing machines, and much more.

I love blogging community blogging. The friendship, sisterhood, encouragement, and inspiration it provides. I have always wanted to be creative, my mind was always filled with projects I was going to do one day. Seeing all of those creative women out there – doing what they love – is a tremendous inspiration for me. Oh, and the fact that here in cyberspace nobody thinks it is crazy to change your pillow covers every season, AND take pictures of them!
My blog is about decoration and craft, about vintage-inspired thrifting, and about creativity and living life like it is the only one you’ve got. I love it all, and nothing is too far out there for me to give it a try it at least once.
When you follow along with my adventures on the path to creative living (or living creatively) I hope you will be entertained, amused, and inspired. And remember ‘if I can do it, so can you!’
