Hello my friends,

I am here to share a bit of urban jungle with you. I am so hip and happening these days I follow all the latest trends  😀 . You may or may not have noticed but indoor plants are back. Yep greenery in the house has made a major comeback. And this is one trend I can totally get behind.

I grew up in a home that always had lush greenery everywhere. My mother truly had a green thumb and magic touch when it came to plants. I remember the monstera in our family room, it ate up so much space that we had to work around it all the time. But the plant had special status and no amount of complaining would make my mom move it. I hope my baby monster(a) (that big one up there) grows up to giant status too.

Another trend I could totally get behind is the sudden outbursts of trolleys everywhere. In the Netherlands the kind of trolley I have is also called a bakers chest. Maybe because bakers used it? Dunno, but I am loving the decor opportunities it provides. This new home of mine seriously lacks space for mantel style decor (no mantel here, not even a faux one) or spots for creating vignettes. And of course this trolley gives me five shelves to work with. Sheer heaven for my decorator’s heart.

Some of my plants are gifts. I received this purple zebrina (just Googled it and found out it is called ‘wandering jew plant’ in English!) from a dear friend as a house warming gift. I got it in the very early days of construction work. Just before winter in a home without heating. It got neglected, completely covered in dust, too cold and too dry at many times but it survived. Barely, but it survived. Now I am loving on it and it thrives. It is so easy and so willing to grow and show of his colors.

I just love how plants can harbor memories. Memories to the ones that gifted it to you, or memories to plants or people that used to be in your life. And those memories live just like the plants.

My new home is slowly but steadily growing into exactly the vision that I had when I started working on it. As you can see that was a white vision. Light, bright and very white indeed. I am loving it!!!

I also love the contrast those greens bring to all that white. It is a very natural contrast in more ways than one. It definitely helps toning the whiteness down and bringing it to life. No wonder my wish list for plants is ever growing. If I keep it up at this pace I surely will be living in a jungle soon.

CU out there!

    Hi Marianne
I´m so happy to hear from you. I have felt the lack of your news and I am very happy to know that your beautiful house is growing exactly as you dreamed it.

  2. I always love your style. Bright. Clean. I remember you asking ,”What’s an easy plant to grow??” And now look at you!!!! Wonderful plants that show you truly have a green thumb? Now what you call a trolley or bakers cart we call a bar cart. But in the 50’s my Mom called it by a brand name (???) a Kirch. Or Kirtch?? I love it too. My mom had a yellow one in her kitchen for extra storage and in town, she stored patio things to be handy.
Yes my Mom grew a green Wandering Jew in her one flower bed. It grows outdoors here too. But yours is a gorgeous color!!! I made new plants by cutting off the long wandering pieces and sticking it in water to root. New plant!!
I love the pop of green in your home. Truly does pop!!!

  3. Fresh and beautiful. I am really enjoying watching your new home come to life!

  4. I do think greenery is an awesome trend to adopt. It makes the house so much more alive!
